My publications cover mainly three topics:
Emotions & mindfulness in politics and policy-making
That’s my most recent ongoing research topic. My motivation consists on revealing the significant role that emotions play in current politics and policy-making. I argue that emotions play a relevant role in communication and advocacy strategies. Emotions are also relevant in dynamics of argumentation and justification in relevant political institutions, such as Parliaments.
Civil Society Organizations in Europe
I have approached this topic from multiple perspectives. My PhD dissertation investigated the relations between Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and European institutions. My main argument was that EU institutions, namely the Commission, had a great role in the shaping of CSOs. While investigating this topic, I also realised that reality is seldom black and white, and that is was also important to highlight the power of CSOs and the limited capacity of political institutions to use CSOs for their own purposes.
Inter-cultural dynamics in European transnational cooperation
While investigating CSOs in Europe, I realised there was a really interesting work done by social CSOs within the framework of EU-funded transnational projects. These projects were implemented by organisations from different member states and thus, they had a very interesting inter-cultural dimension. In a few articles I explain the development and effects of this inter-cultural dimension.
